PlantWatch overview

Understand how PlantWatch turns existing controller data into live production views, downtime history, trends, and reports.

Updated

What PlantWatch does

PlantWatch is an on-premise production-monitoring layer for existing equipment. It reads relevant controller data and turns it into a continuous view of production status, downtime, events, process values, and reports.

It works alongside existing PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems. A typical connection is read-only and does not change the machine sequence or control logic.

Core capabilities

  • Live production status shows operating states, output, loads, and selected process values.
  • Downtime analysis records when a stop occurred, how long it lasted, and which signal or event preceded it.
  • Historical trends make periods and shifts comparable without relying on short PLC logs.
  • Automated reports summarize production and downtime without manual spreadsheets.

How the system fits

PlantWatch uses data that already exists in controllers and other production systems. Depending on the installation, sources can be connected through OPC UA, Siemens S7, Modbus TCP, databases, or APIs.

The platform runs on the customer’s infrastructure. Production data remains on-premise and no external cloud connection is required.

Who uses the information

Operators use PlantWatch to understand the current production state and review recent stops. Production and maintenance teams use the history to identify repeating events and compare periods. Engineering teams define which signals and process questions should be included.
